Healthy, Sustainable, and Delicious: Waiakea Water

Bottled water has been known to cause pollution since the plastic bottles increase wastes in the environment. For many years, companies have always thought that the solution is to make the bottles stronger and degradable. Unfortunately, the plastics they use are compostable and not degradable. Waiakea Water has finally found the perfect solution for water bottles.

The First 100% Degradable Plastic Bottle in the World

Waiakea decided to do the opposite by using Timeplast nano-degradable additive, which makes the plastic weak rather than strong. The additive reduces the lifespan of the plastic, making it degradable after a short period. Waiakea will also chip in and chemically degrade it’s plastic, which is purely made from recycled bottles. They also convert the plastic into wax, which is fully biodegradable. The company will start using this world’s only fully degradable plastic next year.

Waiakea Volcanic Water Brand

Waiakea is a bottled water company that was started in 2012 by its founder, Ryan Emmons. Ryan discovered a sustainable water source in Hawaii Island whose water is rich in silica, sodium, magnesium, and potassium with an alkaline pH. The water is naturally generated using the power produced by volcanos. It goes over high volcanic rock collecting minerals along the way.

The Hawaii company is not only environmentally-conscious, but also known for its charity work. It takes the initiative to donate millions of liters of water to areas experiencing shortage. It distributes its water in Hawaii, throughout the US, and the outside countries too.

Being the fastest growing bottled water company in the US at a rate of 4200% in three years, it is evident that the company is fulfilling its mission of providing healthy, sustainable water to consumers and donating some to those in need.

The value of bottled water is not only in the taste, but also the contents, its source, the packaging and its effect on the environment.
